This cabinet specimen is without doubt an understated piece, composed of pastel apple-green octahedral Fluorite crystals overgrown by a thin sucrosic coating of micro-crystals of frosted Quartz. The resultant colour and texture are beautiful, with the Fluorite crystals varying between tangy-apple and creamy-peppermint. This enchanting specimen is from the famous Dal'negorsk mining district in the Far-Eastern Region of Russia, some 300 km north east of Vladivostok. The perfectly formed octahedral crystals vary from 1 to 2.2 cm on edge and in a few places the colourless, frosted Quartz piles-up to form sparkling drusy mounds to 1 cm or so across. A terrific Fluorite with great appeal from Dal'negorsk.
