Although this specimen will perhaps get few marks for beauty, it is a remarkable display of not only silver mineralization from Freiberg, but its combination with Fluorite too. A bed of deep purple Fluorite cubes is almost totally encrusted with a thin layer of finely crystallized golden Marcasite but with some much larger cubes of Pyrite rising up as an island at one end. Branching off from the island of Pyrite are many 'nests' of heavily tarnished wire Native Silver but with dark grey cubes of Acanthite too. Indeed, there are so many cubic minerals on this piece as to blow your mind. Minor small deep purple Proustite/Pyrargyrite crystals are dotted upon the Acanthite and Pyrostilpnite is recorded too, but not immediately apparent. Ex Hans Engelbrecht Collection, no. 3009, recorded as acquired by him in 1984, shortly after its discovery.
