Fluorite's from Rosiclare Level, Minerva No. 1 mine, Cave-in-Rock, Hardin Co., Illinois, USA are always extremely desirable because of their intense glassy lustre, deep amber colour and prominent outer zoning. This lovely miniature specimen goes one step further, with floating millimetre-scale Baryte crystals suspended inside the Fluorite crystal. The main Fluorite crystal is 2.9 cm wide and has great sharp edges, with just the very tiniest of 'mousebites'. The front of this crystal displays a lovely stepped pattern, with one corner raised, or stepped up, above the rest of the crystal. It is this raised section that displays the most prominent zonation, to purple and pale blue. Minor Sphalerite is attached to the rear. A really fine, gemmy, Rosiclare Level crystal from Arvid Pasto's fine Fluorite collection (no. AEP749), acquired by him in 1991.
