Milpo mine in Atacocha mining district, Peru has recently produced some of the most amazing green Fluorite crystals, mostly in octahedral and cubo-octahedral forms. To add to the aesthetics and interest, they are associated with well-crystallized sulphides and sulphosalts. The greens range from a rich emerald-green, through a bluish, slightly teal-green and a more murky yellowish green. This wonderful larger display specimen features a rib of mixed crystallized sulphides, including Sphalerite, Arsenopyrite and Pyrite. The Fluorite forms a continuous coating of sharp cubo-octahedral crystals, exceptionally to 1.4 cm across, displaying the more bluish-green shade and with a fine translucency. The main octahedral faces are subtly frosted, but the smaller cubic edge faces are glassy, providing a really unusual contrast. There is minor damage to a few of the crystals with the vast majority in superb condition and presenting extremely well. The combination of form and colour is unique amongst world Fluorite. The specimen comes with a custom Sunnywood base presenting it upright in a dramatic display. With good backlighting the colour of this Fluorite is really superb.
