This large cabinet piece is a classic from the 1980s workings at Cambokeels mine, in Weardale, Co. Durham, England. Large (to 3 cm on edge) but concealed, frosted pale camouflage-green cubes of Fluorite are totally encrusted in small white pyramidal Quartz crystals upon which a later generation of the classic Cambokeels colourless cubes and cuboidal crystals have formed as scattered smaller 3 to 12 mm crystals. Unusually, within the first generation of green Fluorite, are patches of brassy bladed Pyrrhotite. A fine, interesting paragenetic sample from Cambokeels mine - Fluorite on Quartz coating Fluorite (containing Pyrrhotite). Ex Malcolm Southwood collection, no. MS 2012.076.
