This pale, pastel green, translucent Fluorite crystal, measuring to 1.9 cm on edge, sits elegantly on a well formed cluster of lustrous, pyramidal Quartz crystals and associated with limited areas of micro Pyrite crystals. This is yet another manifestation of Fluorite from the famous Wheal Mary Ann at Menheniot in Cornwall; a mine discovered in 1843 when a worker digging the road encountered a shallow lode of lead ore. From such small beginnings, between this discovery and 1875 Wheal Mary Ann produced 30,000 tons of Galena and over a million ounces of silver (> 62,500 lbs ). Fluorite from here was, and still is, found in an amazing range of colours. This example of pale green Fluorite display beautifully against the surrounding Quartz crystals.
