Yaogangxian mine, Yizhang County, Chenzhou Prefecture, Hunan Province, China has produced some of the world's finest Fluorite specimens in a broad range of colours, but mostly as prominent cubic crystals. This unusual specimen is very much a break from the norm, comprising a quite long (20 cm) aggregate of narrow, doubly-terminated Quartz crystals whose almost entire surface is encrusted in tiny pale purple cubes of Fluorite making it look like Amethyst. A few slightly larger, and darker purple Fluorite crystals are also present. Ex Arvid Pasto collection.
