This is a really rather fun specimen from the famous Clara mine in Oberwolfach, Black Forest, Baden-Württemberg, Germany. First opened in the early 18th century, the mine still operates and is the last working mine in the Black Forest. Collecting is allowed on the dumps at the mine, but most of what is found are microminerals - for which the site is a mecca for rare species enthusiasts. The most striking feature of this is cabinet sized specimen is a 'spine' of orange, iron-stained, slightly cockscomb parallel platy Baryte crystals, white underneath. Upon these orange blades sit colourless frosted cubes of Fluorite to about 7 mm on edge. Aesthetically, this is a really pleasing display specimen and from such a well-known mine.
