When one thinks of Wheal Gorland visions of the fantastic copper and iron arsenates usually enter ones head. However, it did produce other minerals too. Fluorite was well known in the veins, but is surprisingly poorly represented in collections from the mine. This small miniature is a thin piece of granite matrix upon which many small (to 2.5 mm on edge) deep purple opaque cubes of Fluorite sit. It can never claim to be a display specimen, but for enthusiasts wanting to assemble a suite of what Wheal Gorland produced this would make a nice addition. Ex Malcolm Southwood Collection.
