Height's Mine, Westgate Weardale, Co. Durham England
Condition
No recorded repairs
Gemmy well formed twinned crystals of light green Fluorite, to 1.2 cm on edge, almost completely cover a somewhat sculptural altered Limestone matrix with a single dull, tarnished cubo-octahedral Galena crystal from Height's mine, Weardale, Co. Durham. The crystals of light green Fluorite are intensely glassy and display intense neon purple fluorescence under UV light. One of the larger Fluorite crystals displays complex modified corner crystal faces just like those seen on specimens from the historic Middlehope Shield Level. A rather attractive Height's mine specimen as would be expected from George Farr's stunning Fluorite collection.
