This single cubic crystal of Fluorite from Trébas, near Albi, Tarn, Occitanie, France really is a lovely thing. At up to 27 mm on edge this small miniature specimen is optically beautiful. At first glance it might look to be a pale violet-blue colour, but upon closer inspection it is seen that it's body colour is very pale, almost cream, but that repeated bands, or zones, of blue overpower the cream. These zones can be viewed in several directions and are very crisply defined, several being very thin lines. The surfaces of the crystal show a stepped cubic growth in several places and the corners show the slightest of modifications from very thin bevelled edges. A lovely, quite exquisite example of colour zoning in Fluorite. Trébas is not all that distant from the famous Le Burg Fluorite mine, but there is a separate Fluorite-bearing deposit in Trébas.
