Fluorite from Hilton mine in Scordale, Cumbria, is a collector’s favourite, due to its classic yellow colour with remarkable variations in intensity. This ex-matrix, part cube is a superb translucent acidic golden amber that grades to opaque lemon-cream patches. The outer edges of the cube’s faces become semi-transparent, aesthetically contrasting with the opaque face centres. The two complete edges are set at ninety degrees to each other and each measure 3.2 cm. A beautiful Hilton Fluorite of arresting colour.
