This sumptuous cornflower blue Fluorite cube is from the famous Minerva No. 1 mine in the Cave-in-Rock District, Illinois, USA. At 4 cm on edge, this miniature specimen is still very prominent, and displays really well. It is in great condition, with the whole front face intact, and light transmits through it especially well, making backlighting especially worthwhile. Its rear is missing from where it was removed from matrix. This specimen featured in Arvid Pasto's 2009 book, Collector's Guide to Fluorite, as Fig. 65. Ex Arvid Pasto collection, no. AEP764. We don't know specifically when this specimen was collected, but most people tend to agree that these beautiful blues came out during the period late 1980s to mid 1990s.
