This wonderful small cabinet-sized display Fluorite is from a very unusual locality in the Crystal Creek area of Teller County, Colorado. Looking at the name of this pocket and the size of this Fluorite crystal I do wonder if this specimen lead to the naming of the pocket as "Holy Moses pocket"! At 5.6 cm on edge this pale blue cubic crystal is certainly very impressive for Colorado. The crystal is not pristine, but it is a cracker. The cube has a few nicks to the edges and one corner is cleaved very slightly, but it is the dramatic effect of its size and colour that presents it so well. It has a matt lustre and a fine internal translucency allowing light to reflect off from internal cleavage planes. The rear of the crystal shows several patches of creamy white matrix which is probably a Feldspar. From the famous Fluorite collection of Arvid Pasto, author of the 2009 book "Collector's Guide to Fluorite". Prior to that, it was part of the Strecker collection.
