Amber lemon cubic crystals of Fluorite thickly cover wafer-thin layers of a highly altered limestone matrix from Hilton mine in Scordale, Cumbria, England. Hilton mine is famous for its yellow Fluorite and this excellent large cabinet specimen is composed of well crystallised, semi-transparent cubic crystal with razor-sharp edges and distinct colour zoning around the edges. Under magnification the near-edge bands appear dark inky blue. The crystal are typically 1 to 2 cm on edge, with some elongated prisms and one outstanding cubic crystal of just over 3 cm wide. Under LWUV all the Fluorite fluoresces bright mauve. An excellent Hilton Fluorite for display.
