Heights mine in Weardale is synonymous with fine quality green Fluorite, yet it has also produced other colours albeit to a much lesser extent. This small cabinet specimen is a good example of pale lilac with slightly deeper lilac to purple zoning closer to the faces. The smaller crystals are single cubes while the larger crystals form interpenetrant twins, the latter usually forming elongated prisms up to 1.3 cm on the longest edge. Covering an altered mid-grey limestone, the Fluorite is largely gemmy with slightly frosted external faces and fluoresces bright lavender-white under LWUV.
