Gemmy to translucent pyramidal Fluorapophyllite crystals richly cover this beautiful miniature from the St. Andreasberg mining area of Lower Saxony in Germany. The Fluorapophyllite is a delicate pastel pink forming a dome of superbly developed and highly lustrous, glassy crystals which sparkle beautifully. St. Andreasberg was a silver mining district but also exploited lead, copper and arsenic ores. Fluorapophyllite from this area is now classified as Fluorapophyllite-(K) and is considered a classic species of this world famous mining district whose first records date from the 1480s. This excellent specimen is accompanied with an old label.
