A rarity from the Drakelands mine (formerly Hemerdon mine and Hemerdon Bal) at Sparkwell in south Devon. A single pyramidal Scheelite crystal measuring to 6 mm is replaced by metallic black Ferberite, the iron-rich end member of the Ferberite-Hübnerite Series, formerly and more simply known as Wolframite. This sits on a matrix of white Quartz with micro-crystal druses of Ferberite and rare yellow crystallised areas of probable Hydrokenoelsmoreite, a hydrous tungsten oxide. Some reddish iron stained Kaolinite is also apparent. A great and unusual small miniature from, and adhering to the most recognised of all its various locality names, Hemerdon.
