Famatinite is one of those species that are nearly impossible to fine, either because it is not easy to recognise or it does not crystallise well. This specimen has a sizeable rounded crystal perched on a dodecahedral and very lustrous Pyrite. The tetragonal faces are still quite distinguishable on the perched dull grey Famatinite. The Peruvian Quiruvilca Mine is renowned for its complex sulphide paragenesis, yet even from here Famatinite is rare .
