An Eastern European classic and an iconic copper arsenate hydroxide hydrate. Euchroite is to Ľubietová (Libethen) what Liroconite is to St. Day in Cornwall. This magnificent, and extremely large emerald green Euchroite crystal comes from Horst Wolle's collection. At 1.7 cm in length the main crystal is not only extremely large for such an important species, but is well-formed and on a very displayable piece of matrix too. Another, 1 cm long richly coloured and well-formed crystal sits alongside, splaying outwards from the base of the larger crystal. Named in 1823 after the Greek for "beautiful colour", this species has been found in a small number of other places worldwide in the past 200 years, but none have produced the quality of crystals seen at Ľubietová in Slovakia. This is a significant, museum quality specimen for this extremely rare copper arsenate.
