Eucairite is a rare silver-copper selenide with the simple yet exotic composition AgCuSe., this great miniature originating from Sierra de Famatina in the La Rioja Province of Argentina. The Eucairite is the bright creamy white mineral whereas the surrounding green and bluish green mineral(s) is of unknow composition. Eucairite commonly occurs with, and can be indistinguishable from both Klockmannite and Umangite. The Sierra de Famatina is actually a mountain range within the Andes from where gold and silver were mined between about 1900 and 1950. Specimens from here tended not to be specifically named by the mine, just the area in general. This rich specimen is accompanied by an old handwritten label (see photograph).
