This delicate plate of thin, upstanding, dark olive-green prismatic Elbaite tourmaline crystals is really rather pretty, but is only provenanced to the famous gem-mining state of Minas Gerais in Brazil. Upon it are at least 11 terminated crystals with two or three with missing tips. The largest crystal reaches 3 cm in length but most are in the 1 to 2 cm range. Lower down, all of the Elbaite crystals are coated in a film of cream-coloured Muscovite mica and several thicker, hexagonal prisms of stacked Muscovite mica 'flakes' can be seen forming on the base of this small cabinet-sized specimen. A quite pretty Brazilian tourmaline display.
