This transparent cerise-pink Elbaite Tourmaline crystal is from a new gem pocket found in the Coronel Murta district of Minas Gerais, Brazil. The Elbaite, which measures 4.8 cm long, is composed of essentially gemmy Elbaite which becomes clouded by internal disruptions and feathered optical inclusions in the Tourmaline lattice. The crystal appears to be double terminated, one end having glassy pyramidal faces while the opposite end is flat. This appears to be a pinacoidal termination but may represent a halt in crystal grown due to lack of accommodation space. The Elbaite is a vivid hot-pink with one prism face grading towards paler coral pink. The confirmed termination is an intense deep cerise. A beautiful Elbaite Tourmaline from Minas Gerais.
