This terrific ex-matrix Elbaite Tourmaline crystal is from the world famous Himalaya mine in San Diego County, California, USA. This gorgeous bi-coloured prism is mounted vertically on a small bevelled acrylic base so that light passing through the prism shows off its colour to full effect. The initial 1 cm of the prism is a semi-opaque pale apple green with a silky lustre then cleanly changes to semi-transparent to translucent bubble gum pink. The colour combination is splendid. The prism faces are vertically striated and although the termination at first appears fractured, this is not the case. The pinacoid face has been distorted during growth and has repeatedly re-healed in the process forming a natural set of random faces. High on one prism face sits a splayed cluster of lavender pink Lepidolite crystals. This beautiful miniature comes with a Pala International label.
