This classic, vivid pink coloured gemmy Elbaite tourmaline is from the iconic location of the Himalaya mine in Mesa Grande, California. Despite some light chipping around the edges of its terminations it is an especially nice example due to the two crystals being fused together in parallel. One (at 6.7 cm tall) is slightly taller than the other with both having a light dappling of platy pale purple pearlescent Lepidolite crystals around their lower prism surfaces on one side. Both crystals are terminated with classic, flat pinacoid faces with smooth glassy tops and show fine vertical growth lines typical of Elbaite tourmaline. The base of the crystals is a fracture surface. It comes with a custom-made clear acryllic Sunnywood display stand and stands out wonderfully with back lighting, with its excellent translucency shown to great effect.
