The aesthetics of this specimen are wonderful, with a 5.8 cm tall colourful prismatic Elbaite tourmaline crystal growing alongside a large, stocky, well-formed cream coloured Feldspar crystal. The Elbaite crystal is cola coloured with brighter inclusions for much of its length, but the top 8 to 9 mm is a brilliant green to bluish green colour. It is from Agua Branca near the famous Coronel Murta site in Jequitinhonha Valley, Minas Gerais, Brazil. The top of the Elbaite is in excellent condition with a glassy pinacoid termination but the base of the crystal appears to be a fractured surface. Three repairs are recorded, but all are almost invisible such is the quality of restoration nowadays. These repairs will be where the Elbaite was naturally fractured in the pocket and has been reassembled in its original position. This is standard practice, but we always like to declare these repairs. A fine Brazilian Elbaite on matrix.
