This small miniature Dioptase is from the world-famous Tsumeb mine in Namibia and presents a very nicely crystallized example of this unusual copper silicate species. With a white Calcite core, an extensive layer of emerald-green crystallized Dioptase coats the whole of one side of the specimen, obscuring the contrasting coloured Calcite. The Dioptase forms well-formed glassy crystals which look really fine. There are areas where Dioptase crystals are missing but because these are situated around the edges of the specimen they do not have much of a negative affect on the main display of fine, small, well-formed glassy and colourful crystals. A quite delightful Dioptase miniature from its most famous occurrence - Tsumeb.
