A beautiful example of the copper silicate mineral Dioptase from Tsumeb, here occurring as individual and distinct crystals on snow-white crystalline Calcite with a little attached chocolate-brown dolomitic matrix. The deep emerald-green Dioptase forms short prismatic crystals of typically 3 to 6 mm across with occasional crystals to 9 mm. The crystals are translucent to semi-transparent and transmit brilliant neon-green hues when back-lit. A delightful miniature Dioptase.
