Rich carrot orange felted areas to 2.0 x 1.4 cm of Chalcotrichite, the acicular variety of Cuprite, are developed over gemmy, colourless Calcite crystals from the Tsumeb mine in Namibia. Chalcotrichite is not particularly rare at Tsumeb, but is certainly not one of the more common minerals often found for sale and is a variety often not present in what one might call an average collection of Tsumeb minerals. This specimen is a particularly vibrant shade of Chalcotrichite and will make a nice addition to any Tsumeb suite.
