This wonderfully rich, large miniature of Cuprite is from the Tsumeb mine in the Oshikoto Region of Namibia. This former Cu-Pb-Zn-Ag-Ge-Cd mine operated for almost the whole of the twentieth century and amongst its long list of world-class specimens is the copper oxide, Cuprite. This attention grabbing piece displays intergrown crystals measuring up to 1 cm on and in a ferruginous Dolomite matrix. The large size of the crystals and numerous variations in crystal morphology makes this a striking example which will stand out in any drawer or cabinet of Tsumeb specimens.
