Cronstedtite, a complex iron silicate, is one of the classic minerals associated with Wheal Jane at Baldhu, between Redruth and the city of Truro in Cornwall. The Cronstedtite forms triangular crystals, 1 to 2 mm across, jet-black with a bright reflective lustre. They richly cover a 5 x 1.5 cm surface of grey Killas matrix. Tiny deep tan Siderite crystals forming botryoidal mounds are also present. It's a fine and rich example of the rare mineral Cronstedtite, from Wheal Jane.
