This is an amazing example of Creedite, a calcium aluminium sulphate fluoro-hydroxide, occurring as a Sputnik-like ball of radiating, pale tangerine to peachy-orange crystals, averaging about 8 cm in diameter. Attached to this is a similar 3 cm ball of more transparent, light tangerine crystals. From the Navidad mine at Abasolo, in Durango, Mexico, the mine name means Nativity or Christmas mine, most appropriate as the Creedite sphere is like the most spectacular of Christmas tree decorations. These spheres form in clay-filled vugs within Fluorite veins at this mine and show no point of attachment. A superb Creedite from the Navidad mine in Mexico.
