Cobaltoan Dolomite, also termed Cobalt-bearing Dolomite, is one of Tsumeb's most popular minerals because of its eye-catching colour and widespread availability. It is one of the minerals a collector new to Tsumeb often acquires in the early stages of their quest, instantly punctuating the many species with this stand-out pink. The colour of this small cabinet specimen is terrific, being a zingy fuchsia hot pink covering a thin yet strong plate of grey Dolomite. Turn the specimen over and an equally beautiful area of mottled spring and leaf green micro-spherical Conichalcite covers an area of 5 x 3 cm next to more areas of pink Cobaltoan Dolomite. A lovely Cobaltoan Dolomite with Conichalcite from the Tsumeb mine in the Otjikoto Region of Namibia.
