The hydrous copper arsenate Clinoclase is a much loved species and this specimen is from its type locality at the world famous Wheal Gorland mine in the present day village of St. Day, in the civil parish of Gwennap. Cyan to electric blue blades of Clinoclase with a brilliant glassy lustre fill small 1 cm wide cavities in a highly altered iron-rich granite, dominated by earthy apricot orange and yellowish tan patches. The Clinoclase crystals measure up to about 5 mm and often appear almost black due to the intensity of their colour. A fabulous small miniature Clinoclase from Wheal Gorland accompanied by fine Dr F. Krantz of Bonn stock label.
