If this specimen of Clausthalite with Siderite were featuring in one of our occasional ‘Beauty and The Beast’ updates, I feel it would be a prime contender for The Beast. I can’t hype this up into anything in the least bit aesthetic but Clausthalite, a rare lead selenide, does richly pervade the pinkish cream Siderite matrix as graphite grey anhedral assemblages, often included in the paler Siderite, so adopting its crystalline habit, but not a pseudomorph please note. This small cabinet specimen comes with a modern index card from the University of Gent.
