A super-unusual small cabinet specimen of vivid sky-blue Chrysocolla preferentially coated with orange-tan micro-crystals of Quartz and dusted with jewel-like 1 to 2 mm clusters of lustrous emerald green Malachite crystals (primary Malachite). This specimen is from the Tenke-Fungurume area, east of the Kolwezi mining district in the central-southern region of the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC). The Chrysocolla pseudomorphs after Malachite which, during an earlier stage of paragenesis, pseudomorphed after Azurite. These pseudomorphs form inverted V-shaped tabular crystals over a surface of Chrysocolla and it is these which are preferentially coated in chocolate-orange Quartz. A delightful and quite arresting specimen from central Africa.
