Chrysoberyl is a rare and highly collectible 'gem' mineral species known in fine crystals from just a small number of localities worldwide. This superb miniature specimen is from a new discovery in Mozambique and displays exceptionally well with the stunning contrast between a twinned yellow-green Chrysoberyl crystal and its white Quartz matrix backdrop. The Chrysoberyl crystal is really nicely formed, flattened, and with sharp well-defined edges, and reaches 3.7 cm wide by 5 mm thick. The granular Quartz matrix has been stabilized, as is routine with this new material.
