This is a really great sized specimen of Chlorargyrite (silver chloride) from one of the all-time great regions for this species - Caracoles mining district, Chile. Not only is this specimen small cabinet in size but the richness of Chlorargyrite is excellent too. A bladed Baryte matrix has wide spaces between the Baryte blades infilled with porous crystallized masses of cream coloured waxy Chlorargyrite along with minor small black Acanthite crystals. The richness of this specimen suggests that it was collected during the latter part of the 19th century when these mines were developing rapidly.
