A rare and incredibly rich Chalcocite from the new Rocklands mine a few kilometres west of Cloncurry in Queensland, Australia. Crystal Classics had two employees based at Rocklands throughout mid 2017 to recover mineral specimens from the enriched upper orebody. Chiefly Native Copper was recovered, but a small number of well crystallised Chalcocite specimens were also rescued. The Chalcocite forms vertically orientated curved lenticular blades with a matt sooty mid-grey patina. Where crystals are broken, and there are a few, the interior is a highly lustrous metallic silver. A good Chalcocite and a pleasing locality piece from the now closed Rocklands mine.
