A beautifully crystallised large thumbnail/small miniature of lustrous silvery-steel-grey Chalcocite from the Mount Elliott mine in Cloncurry Shire, Queensland, Australia. This mine exploits a skarn-hosted copper-gold-cobalt-nickel deposit 100 km south of Cloncurry. This off-matrix specimen is built from intergrown hexagonal Chalcocite crystals of typically 1.5 cm across flats and appears almost like intermeshed cogs, similar to Bournonite. A first-class Chalcocite from this seldom seen locality of Mount Elliott mine in Queensland.
