A highly unusual and quite stunning specimen of lustrous reticulated Cerussite embedded in a matrix of divergent sprays of Pyromorphite from the Broken Hill Proprietary Mine, New South Wales, Australia. The Cerussite forms beautifully reticulated groups with branching, almost snow-white crystals, some attaining 3.5 cm in length, which contrast perfectly against the almost soot-black Pyromorphite. Where visible, the Pyromorphite is the typical Broken Hill clove-brown, but most crystals are completely coated with a thin surface layer making the crystals appear sooty-black. The Pyromorphite forms radiating divergent sprays with crystals to about 8 mm long and many showing shallow hopper pinacoid terminations. This magnificent specimen is equally showy from either side!
