This large cabinet size Cerussite pseudomorphing after Anglesite and coated with Coronadite is a Broken Hill classic. Such specimens need little introduction and are instantly recognisable as from this famous mining town in the far west of New South Wales in Australia. Covering a sooty black matrix of mixed Coronadite and manganese oxides, a few hundred sharp pseudomorphs of Cerussite after Anglesite crystals adorn the surface. The majority measure up to about 6 mm although several large pseudomorphs sit atop of the specimen, of up to 1.8 cm across. Where a few of the pseudomorphs are split open along the sides of the specimen, the glassy grey Cerussite interior is visible beneath the outer coating of semi-lustrous jet-black Coronadite. A superb specimen from the famous Broken Hill mining district.
