Celestine from Sakoany in Madagascar is some of the world's best, but is often overlooked because of the volume of specimens that flooded the market a few years back. That said, very few of those specimens displayed large, perfect crystals such as those on show here. The heavenly, celestial blue colour is a given for most Sakoany specimens, but when combined with huge (to 37 mm long) textbook bladed/prismatic orthorhombic crystal form you end up with something stunning. Two main, glassy, translucent to transparent Celestine crystals fan out from within a cavity lined with smaller, gemmy white to pale blue Celestine crystals. The larger Celestine crystal has a fracture visible near its base, but the crystal is solid and has not been repaired. The second crystal has a linear fracture down one edge, but again, is intact and has not been repaired. A really fine display quality Celestine.
