Lustrous black Cassiterite crystals of typically 1 cm wide form a 3 x 1.5 cm cluster and as a few individual crystals within a bed of Quartz crystals and drusy Mica. This large miniature is from the town of Ehrenfriedersdorf in Saxony, Germany and although not recoded on the accompanying earlier label, is most probably from the Sauberg mine. The combination of Cassiterite with Quartz and Mica together with its general appearance clearly illustrates greisen vein-type mineralisation, which is often rich in tin and tungsten.
