The mining district around Kr'sno near to Horn' Slavkov in Bohemia in the Czech Republic produced tin and tungsten until the mines finally closed in 1991. The large Cassiterite thumbnail we have from here is an excellent, multiple twinned crystal cluster whose largest crystal measures 2.5 cm across. All the Cassiterite crystals are jet black with a glossy metallic lustre, with all faces displaying fine growth patterns, some more complex than others. A first-rate Cassiterite from Kr'sno near Horn' Slavkov.
