A stunning and remarkable gemmy Calcite twin crystal from the Jalgaon District in Maharashtra, India. The crystal is a distorted rhombohedron, tending to almost cubic and measures approximately 4.5 x 4.0 x 4.0 cm with two smaller twinned crystals, one emerging from the top face and one further down. The crystals are transparent, almost totally gemmy and with a subtle, yet striking, pale lemon hue. All crystal faces are gently curved with a waxy lustre. The Calcite sits on a thin undulating bed of blueish drusy Chalcedony underlain by granular black basalt. Occasional pale salmon-pink bowties of Stilbite are dotted over the surface, the largest to just over 3 cm long. A magnificent Calcite specimen from Jalgaon.
