An absolutely delightful example of classic Calcite included with Native Copper from Franklin mine, at Franklin in Houghton County, Michigan, USA. An entire scalenohedral crystal, 7 cm tall, with parallel prism faces and a termination divided into three individual peaks, is uniformly coloured a deep flesh-pink by finely disseminated Native Copper inclusions. Adding interest and variety is a relatively colourless and transparent zone in one of the three terminated tips which extends downwards by 3 cm towards the main prism. Emerging from the Calcite crystal at numerous points are hackly granules and small sheets of Native Copper, slightly tarnished to a dull copper-red. Note, the three tips are slightly bruised, but this is not apparent unless examined very closely. A splendid specimen and example of Native Copper included in Calcite from Upper Michigan. This specimen is accompanied with its own custom-made clear acrylic base, with contour-milled recess.
