This small cabinet specimen of gemmy scalenohedral Calcite crystals sitting on colourless creamy to light grey Fluorite exudes Derbyshire with this particular specimen originating from Ladywash mine at Eyam. The Calcite crystals are superb, the largest measuring to 2.8 cm and all displaying many complex faces, with some of the prisms showing longitudinal twinning. Embedded in the massive white Calcite matrix are three bright silver patches of massive Galena. Under LWUV the fluorescence is weak overall, with the Calcite emitting a ghostly pale straw yellow and the Fluorite patchy dull magenta and mauve. This is one excellent Derbyshire calcite which will sit comfortably in any Derbyshire collection.
