A spectacular, 9.5 x 8 cm dome of interlocked cockscomb Calcite crystals, each averaging around 1.5 cm across, coloured jet-black by very finely disseminated Boulangerite inclusions; from the Herja mine at Chiuzbaia, Baia Mare, Romania. Boulangerite, a lead antimony sulphide, forms very fine, hair-like acicular crystals within the Calcite and, under low magnification, also manifest on the surface of the crystals as very fine filaments. A 4 cm long greyish-milky Quartz crystal stands upright at one end and clumps of dark-grey granular Tetrahedrite sit within many of the Calcite rosettes. A lustrous and very showy specimen.
