This small cabinet Calcite on Galena is a super little specimen from the famous Samson mine in the St. Andreasberg mining district of Lower Saxony, Germany. Translucent, milky white hexagonal Calcite crystals up to about 0.8 cm tall and 1 cm wide cover the display face over a matrix of massive Calcite shot through with granules of Galena. The Galena is a minor component of the specimen but does add interest. The Calcite crystals are of nail-head habit with slightly domed trigonal terminations, many showing a feint grey Mercedes-Benz trigonal pattern. This most pleasing specimen is accompanied with two German labels, one a dealer and one a collector.
